Meet Jen Jones

Tell us about yourself. Hi, I am Jen Jones! I have lived in Colorado since 2008 and I may have to claim it as my home state it is the longest I have ever lived anywhere.  Rain, snow, sunshine, day or night being outside is home!  Running, hiking, pick up soccer, hikiing, mountain biking, camping, BBQs, triathlons, walking the dog.... just seems "normal" to me!  I love to run!  A competitive dancer for 13+ years, at the age of sixteen I attempted to start running to make the high school soccer team.  Running was incredibly difficult and I could not run 1/4 mile without stopping.  If you would have asked me what a 5k, 10k, marathon, or ultra marathon was back then I would have laughed (with the nicknames Bubbles and Giggles that is not uncommon) and would not have known what you were talking about.  I never stopped running.  And if you need to know what 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon, ultra marathons, triathlons, and Ironman's are I would be glad to chat!  I still can't stop, so a 100 mile ultra marathon makes sense!

Why on earth are you running 100 miles? The reason I am running a 100 miler is because there is peace and beauty in the simplicity of ultra trail running that is unexplainable!  And the challenge that running 100 miles in the mountains on trails presents is going to be an epic battle!  I truly love to run!

Why did you choose to donate to Yobel? "In this life we can only do small things with great love." -Mother Theresa

Yobel is phenomenal organization filled with beautiful people with compassionate passionate souls I have the distinct privilege to know!  The incredible men and women that work here and in the developing world to alleviate poverty, slavery, and exploitative labor through business training and equitable trade is truthfully surreal.  I am privileged and honored to play a small part!

What is this race? The Run Rabbit Run is an ultramarathon in and around Steamboat Springs on September 16 and 17. The 100 mile course has an elevation gain/loss of 20,191 total feet, and the entire course is at an average of 9,000ft. Jen has 36 hours to complete the entire course.

Who is Yobel International? Yobel International is a non-profit organization that works within the developing world to alleviate poverty, slavery, and exploitative labor through business training and equitable trade. We have developed an entrepreneurial training program that is designed to enable emerging business men and women to learn the skills they need to start businesses that will provide consistent income for their families and enable them to improve their futures and their communities. We believe this is a sustainable path away from dependency on aid and charity, creating a long-lasting positive change in regions previously ravaged by war, corruption, and poverty. Charity will not end poverty, but we have seen that business can!

Want to blow it out of the water? Help Jen raise $10,000 and an entire training will be paid for! This provides the life changing training for 35 entrepreneurs in the developing world. Trainees gain the skills and confidence to being new businesses in their local context for the first time, providing sustainable income, new jobs, and necessary goods and services to their community.

AS OF september 2, JEN HAS RAISED: $410

Through the Run Rabbit Run 100 Miler in 2015, Jen Jones helped us raise a total of  $1,425 to bring business training to developing areas of the world!! Thank you for your phenomenal efforts, and great work on your run. You are incredible!
